Head over to Misty Mountain Pizza NOW, mention “What’s Up Whistler” and you’ll get something FREE to go with your pizza purchase!
Figuring out where to get the best slice in town is a challenge in any city, let alone Whistler. There are about four or five pizza places spread throughout the tiny village, all offering traditional pizza slices for about the same price. If you want something a little different from your regular pizza place though, there’s only one place to go.
At Misty Mountain Pizza – located at 4000 Whistler Way – you’ll get just that. Not only does Misty Mountain offer arguably the best slices in town at great value, but they also offer that little something extra that no other pizza place does….dessert! We’re not talking packaged cookies or chocolate bars, either. When we say “dessert” we mean fresh, homemade squares, brownies, cookies bigger than your hand, and other mouthwatering delights that go perfectly with your favourite slice.
The first time I went to Misty Mountain, I almost didn’t eat. It was close to closing time and I wanted a veggie slice, but there weren’t any left. My boyfriend and I were ready to go someplace else but luckily, Owner/Chef Rose Garbutt was there and happily offered to make me my own little veggie pizza. I’m glad we stayed. While my pizza cooked, my boyfriend inhaled two huge pepperoni slices, and while he wanted a third, I talked him into getting one of the marshmallow-topped brownies that were calling my name from behind the dessert counter instead.

I’d go back just for the brownie! Ower/Chef Rose happens to be a pastry cook and baker before a pizza cook, and studied and worked in Paris and top restaurants in Whistler and BC to perfect her craft, and the desserts are proof. (She also runs a fine dining restaurant in Rossland, BC, called Idgie’s.) But in all fairness to my veggie pizza, it was just as good as my brownie and very filling, and for only $5 including a Pepsi, I couldn’t get a better deal anywhere else in town. Misty Mountain pizza offers about 8-10 varieties of slices that change often, so there’s something for everyone, no matter what you’re craving.
And if you’re feeling like a slice but your friend wants a sandwich, Misty Mountain Pizza also has baguettes, salmon rolls and other pastries to try.
If you head over to Misty Mountain Pizza NOW, mention “What’s Up Whistler” and you’ll get a FREE TREAT with your pizza purchase!

Whistler Mountain Opening Early!
Wednesday, November 11th, 2009Thanks to the serious snow dumpings we’ve gotten over the past week or so – about 100cm!! – Whistler Mountain will be opening 12 days early, on Saturday, November 14. It’ll be open from 8:30am – 3pm, and riders and skiers can head up on the Whistler Village Gondola, with Big Red Express, Emerald Express, and Franz’s Chair all open.
Oh, did we mention that by the 14th there will be even MORE snow? Yup, by the time you get out there, there might be an additional 65cm of snow on Saturday. Plus, the snow guns will be shooting out even more of the white stuff, so get your boards and skiis out ASAP!

Alpine Café Review
Tuesday, November 10th, 2009

This small, quaint restaurant located off Hwy 99 in Alpine Meadows, only 6 km north of Whistler Village, is a perfect place to enjoy breakfast or brunch, with reasonable prices that won’t damage your wallet. Today, two friends and I made our way down to this restaurant where we were greeted with a friendly staff and packed house of happy customers. I ordered the three-egg omelet with potatoes and toast, and my two friends had the Vanilla French toast with caramelized banana, and scrambled eggs with potatoes and toast. Portion size was perfect: not too small and not too much, but very filling. We all walked out very satisfied, and would definitely recommend Alpine café for your next breakfast destination. Homemade breads and soups, baked goods, cooked breakfasts, hearty lunches and dinner specials are just a few of the treats that await you…

The Alpine Café & Catering Co is owned and operated by Kevin Wood and Martini Bart since its inception in 2004. Both owners are Chefs with European training and qualifications.
